| Bradford Cornelius Burnette,
Jr. was the eldest son of Bradford and Ethel Killough Burnette. He married Helen
Irene Gregg on June 28th, 1942. He then was drafted into WWII and served for 4 years as a Sgt. Communication Specialist. He served in Germany and France. |

Upon coming home from
WWII Brad and Helen had a daughter, Christina Pearl Burnette, born March
31st, 1947. Shortly after her birth Bradford enrolled at Johnson Bible
College in Knoxville, TN to study for the ministry. In the spring of
1953 he graduated with a B.A. degree in Bible. While at Johnson, Brad
and Helen began serving a church in Appalachia, VA commuting on weekends
so that he could preach and work with the church. After graduation,
Brad and Helen and Chris moved to serve the church at Appalachia. On
December 16th, 1954, Brad and Helen had a son, David Brad Burnette.
Brad and Helen were called to Hartselle, AL not long after their son's
birth to serve a church there. The church in Hartselle, AL was a hard
ministry and they only served there about 18 months- 2years before they
accepted the call to Corinth, MS. On November 13th, 1958 Brad and Helen
had another daughter, Angelyn Irene Burnette.

A new Christian college
was being formed in Memphis TN and the board and president contacted
Brad to see if he would be willing to commute to teach. In 1959 Brad
began commuting to Memphis to teach at Memphis Christian College. In
1960 Brad was approached about taking the presidency of the college and
Brad accepted.

While in Memphis, Brad
began graduate studies at Harding College, a Church of Christ college.
Brad served Memphis Christian College from 1960-1977. In the Fall of
1976, Brad was awarded a doctorate degree. In the Spring of 1977, Brad
accepted the call of presidency to Bluefield College of Evangelism,
Bluefield, West VA. He served there from 1977 to the fall of 1982. In
the Fall of 1982 Brad accepted a position as Professor at Johnson Bible
College where he served until the Summer of 1991 when he stepped down to
semi-retire and serve a church in Cleveland, TN. He began to have some
health issues and decided to move he and Helen closer back home to
Swannanoa, NC and he then served the Swannanoa Christian Church.
Bradford Burnette Jr.
passed away November 25, 2006 of cancer.
