Mother's occupations were many. Left with six children in the later
depression years, she did everything from woodcutting to ditch digging in
the winter, spring and summer. In wartime she did defense work, her skills
were anything she could do to help another: doctor, nurse, midwife, and yes
undertaker also. Her home was open to anyone who needed it. A very
independent, determined lady, she worked very hard to keep her family
together and thank God she did. Poor but rich, she blessed our table with
thanks and filled our home with love, kindness, and happiness we'll never
forget. She was a brilliant lady who taught us honesty and respect for
ourselves as well as our fellow man. She died in Pasadena, Maryland in the
year 1965. There is no way to express the appreciation I hold for this lady.
